Carrot, Egg, or Coffee, Which one are you?

A friend of mine constantly fills my inbox with stupid things. Usually I glance, delete and groan. But something caught my eye and I followed his link. Considering that coffee (my addiction!) is often an accommpaniment to cookies this story may strike your fancy. Star Bucks Girl relates the tale of the Carrot, Egg, and Coffee. Which one are you? The strong Carrot, the liquid Egg or the motionless Coffee Bean? You can find out here....http://starbucksgirl.wordpress.com/2009/12/18/a-carrot-an-egg-and-a-cup-of-coffee/

Alfajores Recipe ... Fine Argentine Cookies

Katie Sweeney at YumSugar delivers the goods with an Argentine alfajores recipe that will knock your socks off. Many people, especially here in Miami, "cheat" on the dulce de leche by buying blocks of it, available here ANYWHERE, and slicing off what they need. Not Katie. She attacks it the old fashioned way and produces her own with condensed milk. For that true Argentinian cookie taste purchase ours or make your own. Katies' alfajores recipe can be found at YumSugar here ....Good Luck!..:)

What is a gift and why do we give?

Gifts are for expressing emotions, wishes and gratitude. The gift
means nothing, in the sense that it acts as a mediator of human
 relationships e.g. emotions.

Gifts help strengthen business ties as thanks to customers and
suppliers, or as an expression of what we feel; affection towards
people we love; our interest in that special someone, simple
appreciation, an invitation or simply support in time of need.

A few years ago I met a bright and creative woman.

Their seventh anniversary was very close and she had found nothing to
buy him. With little money available for a gift, she was in a
difficult situation. For almost a month she looked for something
special  and cheap, but returned frustrated and sad. Everything she
could afford appeared too little to give him. Her money could not
express her love.

The night before the big day Martha couldn't sleep. She chose the best
from among a sad collection, liked none. tossed and turned. What would
he like? What would he like? She smiled... I'm the
one he loves! I can be his gift.

The next day she bought a bottle of wine she knew he liked as well as
a giant red bow. That night she fixed her hair and
perfumed her body. With a flourish she cleared the table by the front
door and waited; happy with her decision and excited as her feelings
for Albert filled her heart.

Albert came home tired. He had worked overtime and when he opened the door
it was dark and silent. He lamented not being able to
send ahead the beautiful bouquet of roses he had bought. He turned on
the light and his dejection and exhaustion were driven away by happiness and joy for there was Martha, lying on the table with a wine bottle and two glasses between her legs. The giant red bow encircled her
chest and in her hands a hand drawn poster shouted "HAPPY
ANNIVERSARY LOVE OF MY LIFE!"

With their days of struggle behind them, Albert and Martha proclaim
their poorest anniversary their most beautiful anniversary; erotic,
tender and romantic

A stunning gift cannot be measured in cost. The key to a
wonderful gift is love, creativity and empathy. On this basis we can all be unforgettable

Most companies utilize their "About" page to explain the merits of their founder, how she pulled herself up by her bootstraps and landed atop the world. Not so Monica Taver. She had no bootstraps; she had no boots. She learned to cook on a flat rock in the Argentinian wilds. It's a miracle her children could eat her burnt offerings. It's a miriacle they survived. But they did eat and well. Her daughter Rosy is now our executive chef in charge of quality control; a job she took on as soon as she could speak. Not surprisingly her first word was "no!" With 28 years of experience she now offers her services to you, our lovely customers. With a well trained staff of experienced bakers Cookies Love And Art currently ships worldwide and nothing leaves our kitchen unless it is absolutely perfect.
